Adopted by the College Station City Council in 2026, the Economic Development Master Plan provides a strategic roadmap for guiding the community’s growth and economic success in the years ahead.

Planning Process & Strategic Vision
City staff engaged TIP Strategies to lead the development of the Economic Development Master Plan, with a primary goal of charting a path toward long-term sustainability. This effort moves beyond growth as a byproduct of university expansion and instead positions the City as the active architect of its economic future.
Through close collaboration with community leaders, stakeholders, and regional partners, the plan establishes a strategy to diversify the tax base while reinforcing a distinct local identity preserving College Station’s high-quality, family-oriented lifestyle while advancing redevelopment to meet the needs of a modern, growing city.
This Master Plan serves as a roadmap for navigating the opportunities and complexities that come with hosting a major research institution. It bridges the gap between current potential and future reality, guiding College Station’s evolution from a university-centric college town into a premier destination for business, talent, and innovation.
At the heart of the strategy are four reinforcing goals:
