In March, the city council unanimously approved rezoning the roughly 1.24-acre tract from commercial industrial to a planned mixed-use district, allowing for hotel development.
A planned mixed-use district is intended to create and support walkable activity centers, encouraging foot traffic and connectivity between surrounding developments while promoting an urban environment.
After hearing the proposal, Mayor John Nichols spoke in favor of the project, noting the site’s years of inactivity and its potential for revitalization.
