Master Plan

Economic Development Master PlanThe College Station Economic Development Master Plan was adopted by the city council in 2020 and guides the community's economic development path for the next 5-10 years. The intent of the master planning process is to ensure growth and development advance the city's economic development objectives. The process should also further College Station's goal of “ensuring a diversified economy, generating quality, stable, full-time jobs; bolstering the sales and property tax base; and contributing to a high quality of life.”

City staff worked with Greyhill Advisors to evaluate the strategic initiatives and operational approach established in the original 2013 Economic Development Master Plan, as well as update the critical market data items most relevant to economic development competitiveness. As part of the plan's development, staff engaged with local residents, business owners and operators, and community leaders to understand their vision of the community's economy and to help review and formulate pragmatic strategies. The engagement came in the form of focus groups with the community leaders in late 2019. The results of the discussions were used throughout the plan's development.

The resulting plan contains six strategic initiatives, each of which has specific action items for economic development staff to achieve and providing a clear path forward for the next five years and beyond.
