The majority of businesses in Brazos County expect local economic growth and higher sales over the next year despite lingering concerns regarding the national economy, according to results from a recent Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce survey.
On March 16, 125 volunteers with the B/CS Chamber of Commerce visited over 1,000 businesses in Brazos County, successfully conducting its annual survey of worker’s/owner’s attitudes toward the local economy. In total, 769 of the 1,054 businesses visited participated in the survey. According to the results presented to the Brazos County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, 49.2% of local businesses surveyed believe their sales had increased over the past 12 months. Only 18% (135) of businesses said they experienced a decrease in sales numbers.
