WTAW-AM – At the 2016 B/CS Chamber Economic Outlook Conference Wednesday the numbers and speakers both said 2015 was a record year for the state and local economies.

Forbes ranks B-CS No. 2 nationally for business, careers

Bryan-College Station is ranked No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in Texas on Forbes’ 2014 list of the Best Small Places for Business and Careers. No other Texas city ranks in the top 35.

In compiling the list, Forbes considered 12 factors related to jobs, business costs, living costs, income growth, quality of life and education. Forbes used data from Moody’s Analytics, the U.S. Census and Sperling’s BestPlaces.

Forbes ranks B-CS No. 8 in job growth, No. 17 in education and No. 22 in cost of doing business.

The ranking is the highest for Bryan-College Station on Forbes’ annual list, which includes cities with populations under 250,000. This is the fourth straight year the community has ranked in the top 10. B-CS was ranked No. 5 last year, No. 6 in 2012, and No. 9 in 2011.

Four Texas cities made Forbes’ best large metros list – No. 13 Dallas, No. 15 Houston, No. 16 San Antonio and No. 19 Austin. All are located within a three-hour drive of B-CS.
